We stopped here for lunch while visiting in Louisiana. The food was amazing and the portions were big. I had the catfish and fries with a side of red beans and rice. My daughter had the shrimp po boy, and my boyfriend had a combination plate with grilled and and fried catfish. Everything was perfectly seasoned and tasted great. The sweet tea washed everything down perfectly. I highly recommend this place. You won't be disappointed.

Found this place while looking for something besides chains for lunch on the way through Monroe. There are two locations in Monroe, so I hope I am reviewing the right one. It was right off I-20 going west. Wow, some of the best food of our trip. Sam's claims to be "Home of the Jumbo Shrimp" and it is true. I had the grilled shrimp salad and it was amazing. Also had a side of delicious, tender little fried green tomatoes. Fried selections were reportedly excellent, too. This is a funky place-- like an old Dairy Queen-- so if you want ultra casual and delicious, check it out.

Really good food, VERY slow service. If you've got the time it's worth the wait. If you're trying to get back on the road, you might want to pick another spot.

We ordered the catfish both fried and grilled. The grilled was awesome! The fried was very good too. Also had the fried shrimp and oysters. They were not over cooked and were moist and tender. Portions are huge. I'd rather pay less and get smaller portions though. Very filling.

Good north LA food. Reminds me of my college days in this part of the country. Order the 'Kevin Kelly'. (Shrimp & Oyster Po-Boy)

Let me predicate this post by stating I have eaten at this location multiple times. When the location first opened we loved it. All the food tasted fresh and they gave you more than you could handle. In the last couple of years they have dramatically deteriorated in taste, freshness and ecspecially customer service. There have been many things wrong with the last few trips. First of all this trip I called ahead 15 minutes for a large order I then had to wait another 30. My kid also lost a quarter in their machine and the manager refused to refund him. It wasnt until I said "I just spent $50 and he is refusing to give us back a quarter?", did he finally give in. The last two trips we made we left with large orders of 5 or more meals. Both times we were missing whole parts of our meal which left children and adults hungry. I called back to the store after driving across town and told them we were missing food. This last time they said that they would give us the items we were missing FOR FREE. I said that was not for free since we had already paid for it. The manager was adamant that he was doing me a favor and I should be grateful. Fried shrimp 3* average at best nothing special here. Fried oysters 3.5* these are ok but could really use some better batter. Fried fish 0* definitely the worst fried fish I have had anywhere. Cheap cut and horrible breading. French fries 2.5* u can getter better from a frozen bag of fries Mac and cheese 2.5*- blah its ok for kids but not if u have grown up taste buds It continues like this if you are looking for an ok menu with not very good customer service then this is ur spot.

We are staying at the RV park just down the road and after a long day of driving wanted something close by for dinner. We arrived at 5:15 and were the only customers, not a good sign. Our waitress was friendly and quickly took our order, and by the time our food came the place was filling up. If you like fried seafood, this place is well worth checking out. I had the butterflied shrimp and they were big, tender and delicious. The red beans and rice were also very good. My wife had the shrimp, oyster and fish combo and I sampled one of the oysters and a small piece of fish and they too were very good.

Me and my boyfriend absolutely love eating here. You get so much food and the menu is HUGE. No matter what one of us wants the menu is big enough to accommodate whatever we may want. They are also pretty quick with call in orders. I love the shrimp here they are really big and they normally give you more shrimp than you ordered. I always love my sides, I get Mac and cheese and cole slaw and they are so good I end up eating them first lol. My boyfriend usually gets the cheese burger plain and the meat is so good and seasoned I love the flavor of the burgers. They also give you a lot of fries. The atmosphere is a little drab and old but the food is amazing. It's also a little hard to find if you're not from around here they are about to open a Mexican restaurant right in front of it lol. All in all I really like to eat here no matter if I call it in or go in and eat. The prices are pretty cheap and you get a TON of food!

What a great place for dinner. Met the owner who was working the counter and told me how he was growing. Had the baked fish and jumbo shrimp which was fantastic. Would eat here again the next time I am in town.

Stopped in while traveling back to Texas. Well worth it! Portions are HUGE! Prices are very reasonable. My wife ordered grilled fish & grilled shrimp. Again big portions and cooked to perfection. Both of us enjoyed the red beans & rice. I had the fried shrimp and fish. I am so stuffed! Southern cooking at its finest! Genuine sweet tea. Avoid the chains when passing through West Monroe. Stop here and have a good meal at a very fair price.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food I received. It was my first time going and the restaurant itself has the look of not so great fast food. The fried jumbo shrimp were actually jumbo and the fish was very fresh tasting and flavorful. I did discover that I don't like fried oysters, not due to the cooking, just not for me. Side note - they were huge as well. Very good and I will be coming back!

In West Monroe for a week and have ended up eating there three times and plan to go again. First time there I ordered 3 fish, 3 shrimp, and 3 oysters (fried) with slaw and red beans and rice and got 5 fish filets, 5 jumbo shrimp, and 4 oysters! All but the oysters were delicious--better than the fish and shrimp I had had at Papadeauxs at DFW the day before (and at less than half the price)! Red beans and rice and slaw were excellent as well. I took half home and finished it for supper. I went back the next day and had the same thing minus the oysters. On the third day I had their Philly Cheese steak on the recommendation of the waitress, and it was also first rate. I plan to go one more time and have the grilled fish and shrimp. All of their seafood, by the way, can be ordered grilled or fried. The place itself is very low rent but the food is certainly not.
